A proposal for sustainable new homes overlooking The Water of Leith, Edinburgh.

Artisan Real Estate Investors Limited has bought the B&Q site at 13 Warriston Road and proposes to redevelop this key brownfield site for sustainable new homes.

THE PROPOSALS canonmills-dots

We believe that the proposed development will provide much needed new homes in an urban sustainable location on a brownfield site that no longer has a viable commercial use.

We have appointed Sheppard Robson, an award winning architectural practice, to undertake the initial studies and design development. We consulted on the initial design proposals in July 2016. Your initial comments and suggestions have been considered by the design team and changes have been made to the original proposals. Residents and other interested individuals attended our second round of consultation exhibitions in early December. Updated design information is available here.

Thanks to everyone who submitted comments. Key design changes include:

  • reducing the overall number of residential units to 180
  • pulling the development back from the site edge to create mores space and new green walkways between the
  • development and its neighbours
  • creating a “stepped” frontage to Warriston Road that ensures the height of the development is in line with both the Printworks and Powderhall Village.
